SHREVEPORT, La. – The HBU men’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to host Centenary Wednesday evening at Mayo Field.

The Huskies got on the board first as freshman Mateo Jimenez scored unassisted on a goal that deflected off a defender into the net. It was Jimenez’s first collegiate goal.

The Gents tied the game 11 minutes later as Jihad Elaydi scored off a rebound. Tate McIntyre scored the eventual game winner just three minutes into the second half, a tap past the defenders into the corner of the net. Ryan Watston put the exclamation point with nine minutes remaining in the match on a header.

HBU seemed to dominate the match everywhere but the score, as the Huskies outshot the Gents, 24-17, and 11-4 on corner kicks.

Senior Michael Bouchahine took the loss as he made five saves in all 90 minutes. Rennie Walker played the first half, allowing one goal and making three saves, while Robbie Ramirez played the second half, blanking the Huskies and making nine saves.

HBU (4-7-0) will conclude the road trip at UNLV on Sunday, set for a 3 pm CST start.
