HOUSTON – Junior Joelle Daniel’s goal in the 88th minute gave the HBU men’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over fellow ASC member NJIT Saturday night at Sorrels Field.

The play began on a corner kick, set up by Andrew Collins. The ball bounced a few times in front of the net before Dan Dwyer found Daniel deep into the box, who found the back of the net. It was Daniel’s first goal this season.

The Huskies led 1-0 just two and a half minutes into the game as Francisco Diaz scored, assisted by Duke Ogega and Adi Mesic. The Highlanders tied it 16 minutes later as their leading scorer, Rahim Stennett, scored on a free kick off the foot of Osvaldo Perez.

NJIT outshot the Huskies, 14-9, while HBU had three times as many corner kicks (6-2). NJIT was off-sides six times during the match.

Senior Michael Bouchahine earned his fifth win on the year as he made five saves, while NJIT’s Ryan Sutherland made two.

HBU (6-8-0, 2-0-0 ASC) will hit the road for the final two regular season games of the season, stopping at Howard on Friday, Oct. 30, then Longwood on Nov. 1.
