HBU Volleyball Falls to NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. – Sophomore middle blocker Jolie Graf led Houston Baptist with 12 kills as the Huskies dropped a Great West Conference contest to NJIT, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 20-17, Thursday at Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.


Senior right side hitter Ligia Clemente (11-17, 3-7 GWC) added 10 kills, while freshman outside hitter Heather Leaverton had eight kills and 14 digs. Sophomore libero Courtney Whittleman had a match-high 17 digs, and junior outside hitter Barbara Silva had 11. Senior setter Natalie Magat had a match-high 34 assists.

Renata Pandolfo had a match-high 13 kills and recorded 13 digs for NJIT (14-7, 5-2), and Katrina Hornstein added nine kills. Sabrina Baby and Baaba Hughes each had 13 digs for the Highlanders, and Fernanda Lima posted five blocks.

HBU will get an entire week off before hosting Utah Valley in another Great West Conference contest Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
