NEW YORK CITY -- Three Houston Baptist University athletes were named to the Great West Conference all-conference cross country team Saturday after top-14 efforts at the league championships, held at historic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Daniel Martinez was 10th and Johnathan LeJeune was 12th for the men, while Raquel Tidwell placed 13th in the women's race to lead the Huskies.

Martinez, the 2008 GWC individual champion, clocked 26:53 over the rugged and hilly eight-kilometer course, two seconds ahead of LeJeune, and Tidwell finished the 6K women's race in 23:55.

Both squads finished sixth as Utah Valley swept the team titles in dominant fashion. Host New Jersey Tech had the men's individual champ in Christian Baumbach, and UVU's Mary Nothum ran away with the women's gold.
