Men Lead by Four Strokes at UTPA Golf Classic

EDINBURG – The HBU men’s golf team leads the three other Great West members in the UTPA Golf Classic being held at Los Lagos Golf Club, the site of the America Sky Conference championship in the spring, after two rounds.

The Huskies shot 607 (307-300) to lead host Texas-Pan American (611) by four strokes.  In third is North Dakota (633) followed by Chicago State (721) in fourth.

Sophomore Sumin Yu is alone in third with a one-over-par 145 (73-72).  He trails a pair of players from SMU who are playing as individuals and is three strokes out of first place.  Andrew Rollins is in sixth place, six strokes behind Yu with a tally of 151 (78-73).

Tied for 10th place are teammates Ian Armstrong and Mark Slater.  Both totaled 156 with Armstrong shooting 80-76 and Slater firing 77-79.  Ryan Alger, a freshman, posted a two-round tally of 159 (79-80) for a 14th-place tie.  Hudson Hansard, playing as an individual, is in 24th with a 176 (88-88).

The tournament will conclude with a single round on Tuesday at Los Lagos.
