May 15Wright Closes Career With Triple Gold Day at GWC Championships

YANKTON, S.D. -- Closing out a brief career that cemented her status as one of the all-time great female athletes at HBU, Cindee Wright romped to three golds Saturday, sweeping the sprint titles to lead the Huskies on the final day of the Great West Conference Championships at Williams Field. Thanks to Wright's efforts, the HBU women's team finished third, a placing matched by the men's squad.

YANKTON, S.D. -- Jonathan Staples and Jarrett Gilliam shined as brightly as the golden springtime sun Friday, winning two more golds to lead HBU on the second day of the Great West Conference Championships at Williams Field. Staples leaped to a season best in the long jump to take top honors, while Gilliam unleashed a lifetime best on his final throw to take the discus title.

YANKTON, S.D. -- Maximo Mendoza defended his 10,000-meter title with a blistering final lap and HBU's men went 3-4-6 in the hammer to give the Huskies the lead in the men's team scoring Thursday after day one of the Great West Conference Championships at Williams Field.
